True Strength

Yesterday, in a conversation with a friend, we were discussing transitions and the impact they have on our lives.

Life has a way of doing two things, creating and destroying illusions. There are times in our lives when it seems everything is under our control. Predictably, order and understanding are close friends.

Alas, those times are fleeting. Sooner or later seasons of change come. Winds of uncertainty, chaos and confusion sweep away the illusion of power and we are left at the mercy of events and situations beyond our ability to manipulate and coerce.

It is when our illusions dissipate, when we are shown our weaknesses and inability to control most of, if not all, of life that true strength is found. This strength comes from accepting our powerlessness and letting go of our illusions.
