To receive an anonymous gift is a humbling experience. The desire to reciprocate, even if just a thank you card, is a strong impulse. To receive without the ability to express appreciation hopefully inspires us to do the same. To give with no expectation or possibility of someone returning the favor is the true definition of gift and grace.

The Master says; “When you do good things, don’t do them to be seen. When you give to the poor, don’t be a show-off, standing on a street corner trumpeting your works. When you give to the poor, don’t let anyone know what you are doing. Give in secret with only God aware of what you have done.”
