More than a Name
There are seasons in life when you understand how little you know about certain things. This week I realized how ignorant I was about the responsibility parents carry. My wife and I we’re not blessed with children though we’ve been given opportunities to touch the lives of many. However, that’s not the same as being a full time mom or dad.
Beth and I were discussing some of the parenting concepts and skills introduced this week at a seminar I attended. It focused on brain development, building trust, attachment vs bonding, allowing children to discover the world around them, and preparing a child for the future. What a parent(s), family, does the first few years of their baby’s life dramatically benefits or hinders them and their future.
It’s astonishing, humbling and scary to get a sense of what it means to be called; “Mom” or “Dad.”
