All Shall Be Well

On or around this day a year ago Beth and I stood on our front porch in Lebanon, Pennsylvania our world shaken to its core. In just a few weeks we would lose our home, my job, and say goodbye to dear friends we love deeply. I held her in my arms and and said, pensively, painfully; “I don’t know where we’ll be a year from now, I just don’t know.”

Tonight, I sit in our “new to us” home, working/ministering in a new, challenging and rewarding position with the words of Julian of Norwich echoing in my spirit. I’ve sang her prayer many times at staff sessions, contemplative seminars, classes and prayer retreats I’ve led to encourage the participants to be still and trust. I am thankful for the reminder and renewal this evening…

“All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all matter of things shall be well, be well.” #Julian_of_Norwich

  2. All shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well, are words precious to me, also. Mother Julian wrote like a true mother and I think is pleased to have comforted so many thousand, thousands with them, I say is not would because I rather think that within the great cloud of witnesses. She still cheers us on. Happy New Year when it arrives.

  3. And isn’t it amazing how we don’t know, but God does? Trusting that he has our good in mind is sometimes so hard.
