Grasping the Universe

image

Wisdom tells me that the entire universe can be found in a single drop of rain. If this is true there are infinite universes falling on the roof outside. Someone told me yesterday that Tennessee winters are one long stretch of gray sky. So far this season overcast skies and rain are the norm.

As I listen to the water bounce off the front porch awning I reflect upon the wisdom of finding everything in the smallest things. Our instinct is to ignore the banal and focus our attention on the grandiose. We are so easily impressed and distracted.

Let the rain fall, wash away our blindness and hubris as we grasp the universe.
