Like Little Children
Each of us at one time or another have encountered, perhaps even been, a grumpy, defensive, sneering, spiteful person. We may have a picture of this person in our mind as we read the quote from Brennan Manning above. These folks try us, test us and wear us out physically, emotionally and spiritually. The thought of interacting with them brings a sense of dread and despair.
To arrive at the place where we can see these disgruntled ones as little children, lost and alone, in need of love is an arduous journey. Our first step is to acknowledge our own biases, ego and accept the truth that we too can be spoiled, entitled, tempestuous and in need of a good hug.
