Yesterday I was a passenger in an old Honda Accord whose best days were far behind it. The passenger door only opened from the outside, the driver’s mirror was held in place by rubber bands and one of the back tires had a perpetual leak. As I rode in the car, nervous and trying not to think about the tire falling off, I reflected upon how the driver of the Honda knew where we needed to go and the best way to get there. The vehicle wasn’t the newest or in the best shape but what mattered was he knew the way.
