Deflated

The two weeks leading up to Super Bowl XLIX have seemed interminable! The main stream sports media, trying to fill fourteen days worth of air time, has hyped stories such as; “why doesn’t this player talk to reporters?” and “this quarterback has a cold!” but the most inflated story of the last two weeks is undoubtedly; “Who deflated some of the footballs in the AFC Championship game?” I enjoy a good football game and will watch the Super Bowl but the relentless rehashing of this made up conspiracy by sports commentators and columnists has certainly sucked some of my joy out of the big game.

There are people in our lives who can be this way. They’re stuck on something that seems important and won’t let it go. No matter how much they need to move on, we desire them to move on, they just can’t seem to get past it. Eventually we have to choose to keep walking or stay stuck with them. After all, It’s hard to find joy in the journey when you’re not going anywhere.
