I have a friend who’s a big Seattle Seahawks fan. Last year, when they were playing in the Super Bowl, I commented to her; “If the worst thing to happen to you this year is the Seahawks lose the game you’ve had a really good year and if the best thing to happen to you is they win the game you’ve had a really bad year.” I’d tell my friend the same thing this year as Seattle goes for the repeat. Tomorrow the sports world will be cheering the newly crowned football champions and Tuesday they’ll be talking about who’s going to win it all in 2016.
Life moves fast. The good and the bad blend together, joys and tears intermingle. What we think will bring us happiness can also deliver pangs of regret. What we long for and what we fear often meet in the middle, a morass of uncertainty and comfort.
Embrace this present moment, whatever it entails, for it is the only certainty you can hold…however briefly.
