What We Need, What We Give
This morning I had breakfast with a new friend. Our conversation moved from families to work to ultimately the topic of spiritual journeys. We both spoke rhapsodically about the fervor of beginning the path and the inevitable slog of being dissapointed by others and our own ego driven agendas, weaknesses and disillusionment.
This spiritual path called life leads in two directions. One way takes us to self righteousness, judgement, and the elevating of self as the highest good. The second is only navigated from a deep place of humility, an acknowledgement that we are shallow, selfish, sinful folk in need, and to be givers, of grace.
