Taking the Stairs
I don’t like elevators. I don’t do well in tight, closed, windowless spaces. If I can find stairs I’m walking up or down them no matter how great the ascent or descent. I cannot recall a traumatic event in the past that turned me off to small confined places but it’s a real issue for me.
Often, when I’m climbing a set of stairs alone and the stairwell is quiet, I’ll take the opportunity to still my mind and spirit reflecting upon the truth that there is no elevator to wisdom. The way can be a long climb, a tiresome journey but when the doorway to peace and contentment is opened it’s certainly worth it.
