Discarding Others

Have you ever noticed that not long after you trim your finger nails you need those now discarded nails for prying, opening, pulling, grasping something? Maybe it’s just me. This morning I cut my claws only to need them to put keys on a key ring about an hour later. Grrrr. The question is, “do I use them often and only notice when they’re gone or do I only need them after I clip them?”

I think we treat people this way also. There are those folks we cut out of our lives for different reasons; legitimate and not. We don’t see the need for them or surmised they’ve used up their usefulness. However, not long after they’re gone we realize we need them or at least there is now a void, a purpose they served, in our lives.

Before we make the decision to cut someone out of our lives, and sometimes this is the correct decision, we should be aware of what will be missing and how much we’ll miss them.
