Not Alone

Sometimes we simply need someone to be with us. Not fix us, be with us. There’s a difference.

Some of us are fighting battles most people don’t know about or would even understand. We have demons, monsters, ghosts, that haunt us, whisper/scream negative and nasty words to our spirits and minds. The constant conflict drains us, exhausts us. These enemies have walked beside us since a traumatic experience, difficult upbringing, abusive relationships. Bio-chemical imbalances, genetics and other reasons may be responsible for the war which rages within.

We’ve tried therapy, prayer, meds, behavior modification, annointings, a combination of all these and more. The blessed ones find permanent freedom, some temporary relief, while others continue to suffer with little more than hope that something, someday might “fix”, slay the demons/monsters within.

Our hearts are quickly drawn to those with injuries, wounds, hurts we can see. There are, however, many among us who suffer secretly, inside themselves, who need care, compassion and comfort. They’re scared because mental illness and disorders are stigmatized and misunderstood.

What they long for, more than anything, is not for you try and fix them, but for you to show them they aren’t alone.

blessings,

  1. Brian, this is so true. Sometimes you just can’t put what is going on into words and it is comforting to just “be”. well done.
