Stillness Called to Me

The stillness called to me this morning. Just as the sun was breaking through the night sky and a red headed woodpecker was searching for breakfast. I spied the early bird while passing through kitchen and glancing out the window. The soft glow of reds and oranges bathed it and the green grass in a soft light. I paused, watching, wishing to stay where it was quiet and serene, longing to capture this rarity of silence and beauty in a hectic week.

Soon, however, the moment had passed. Clothes needed to be ironed, people to get dressed, appointments to be kept, life lived, but a part of the stillness, that moment stayed with me and for this blessing I am thankful.
