Doing it Wrong

Earlier today I was trying to finish mowing the yard before a line of strong thunderstorms arrived. I grabbed the push mower, wheeled it into position and pulled the starter cord. It roared to life but soon began to sputter and cut off. I repeated this process a few times not sure what was happening. Then I noticed that there was gas leaking where a large filter is located on the engine. I’m not mechanically inclined but quickly surmised this isn’t good and the mower needs to go to the shop. So, I put the mower up and used a weed eater to finish the job.

Wednesday evening I was speaking to a group of fathers and told them; “If the way we’re acting keeps getting us into trouble, the way we’re communicating leads to arguments and misunderstandings, the choices we’re making cause negative consequences, the path we’re traveling is taking us away from who we want to be, then we’re doing something wrong!”

We have to be aware of a problem before we can fix it and willing to seek help when we know we can’t do it by ourselves.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” #AlbertEinstein
