Try and Remember

Dear Mr. Ford truck driver, flying up behind me, riding my bumper, in a big hurry to get somewhere. I’m trying to be patient, to remember you mIght have an emergency, a life changing event happening but you’re testing my patience, raising my anxiety, fear, frustration and anger. Sigh.

It’s a two lane road with no shoulder and I can’t get out of your way. I know I’m just an obstacle to your destination and we don’t know each other but you’re making it hard for me to love my neighbor. Maybe I’ll reach the road I’m turning onto before you lose it but try and remember I’m a person too, with a family, dreams, people who’d miss me…

…and perhaps, next time I’m in a hurry, I’ll do the same.
