Buckle Up

On my way to a Fatherhood class today I stopped at one of those not good for you, but quick and cheap, fast food restaurants.  I grabbed a small cheeseburger and a diet coke (because diet coke makes the guilt and shame go away) and sat in one of those fancy looking, but still plastic, booths to scarf down lunch and try to study.

Midway through my meal and lesson plan a plus size lady and her partner sat in the booth behind me which was connected to my seat. They both sat on the same side and when they sat down my part of the booth went up. When they moved I moved. My first thought was to get up and find another place to sit but I didn’t want to offend. So, I breathed deeply and did my best to hang on and make the best of it.

Life has a way of keeping us on the edge of our seats, going up and down, moving us into uncomfortable places.  Wisdom tells us to buckle up and enjoy the ride.

  1. Greetings, Wannabe Saint! I was “following” you, but gradually I realized I wasn’t getting any of your blogs! So, somehow, we become “unfollowed”. I have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks for this article!
