Light Up the World

Saturday night I went into the bedroom to prepare to go to sleep. As I entered our boudoir I turned on a lamp next to the bed. When I did I saw something moving on the night stand and quickly surmised it was a lighting bug that somehow had made its way into the house. I thought it interesting that a light was needed to reveal a bug that could illuminate itself. I cupped my hand over it and gently closed my fingers trapping the insect but not harming it. I walked to the front door and set it free to hopefully find its way and light up the night.

Wisdom teaches us that our lives can brighten a dark world. Sometimes this means revealing the light within ourselves but it can also come as an opportunity to help others shine.

  1. We’ve just moved to Ohio from way out west, and are discovering the delights of lightning bugs (fireflies)! I love your post. Thanks.
