Last week I parked under a shade tree to eat lunch. As I scarfed down my meal I noticed a groundhog scurry under a bush.
After a few moments he stuck his head out and looked around. He began to run across a dirt driveway to a group of trees when half way there a vehicle spooked him and he darted back to the safety of the large hedge.
A few moments later he tried again and again something frightening forced him to turn around. Several attempts later I caught myself saying; “Sooner or later you’re just going to have to go for it little fella!” Finally, his chubby little legs kicked into high gear and he arrived at the place he truly wanted to be.
Wisdom tells us that fear, hesitation, feeling safe where we are, can keep us from making the choice to move to where we belong. A place, not of fear, but of peace.
